Initial tests with El Capitan 10.11 show that MadiXtreme in a Thunderbolt Chassis is NOT COMPATIBLE with this operating system. Do not upgrade if you wish to continue using your MadiXtreme in a Thunderbolt chassis
A Mac driver is available which facilitates compatibility of MadiXtreme in a Thunderbolt chassis on most Mac systems.
To use this driver on Mac OS Yosemite 10.10 you must be running 10.10.3 or above to void disabling kext signing. If you are running 10.10.2 or below please see here for more information on this. Earlier operating systems are not affected by this.
Please note this driver is beta only, has not been tested on ALL Macs and is known not to work on certain models.
The table below shows the systems on which it has been tested and is known to work reliably:
|Macpro 6,1||Magma||10.9||128||MCL not working in PT 10|
|Macmini 6,2||OWC Mercury Helios||10.8.2||64||FS = ok,@ 2FS = distortion|
|Macmini 6,2||Sonnet||10.8 + 10.9||128|
|Macmini 5,1||Sonnet||10.7||64||FS = ok,@ 2FS = distortion|
|MacBookAir 5,2||Sonnet||10.8.3 - 10.8.5||64|
To obtain a copy of the driver please contact our support team through the Ask a Question tab.
- Macbook Pro 9.x are known to be incompatible.
- There is no difference in performance between different models of thunderbolt chassis's from a particular manufacturer. For example if one of the Sonnet chassis' works, they all will.
- When the OWC Mercury Helios chassis is used there is distortion on the audio stream at 88.2 + 96kHz sample rates - 44.1 + 48kHz sample rates are ok.
- Just because other configurations are not listed it does not mean they will not work.
