Observed on Pro Tools 10.0 running under Windows 7 64 bit.
The error message "Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program" can appear, and Pro Tools fail to start, if "User Account Control" (UAC) is not disabled.
To disable UAC in Windows 7, go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings: eet the slider to the lowest position and restart the computer.
NB: You must restart the computer even if you are not prompted to do it.
Please refer to Avid technical support if you require further details about or help with this.
Also, after starting the host PC, the MX4 or Mixpander's DSPs need to be initialized. by running the SSL Mixer software or Soundscape. Otherwise Pro Tools will display the same error message.
