On macOS, ipMIDI is managed within the Audio MIDI Setup application.
When Audio MIDI Setup is first opened, it may only open the Audio Devices window.
You need to manually open the Window > Show MIDI Studio menu to see ipMIDI.

Addendum for El Capitan 10.11 and Sierra 10.12
A small number of users have reported that ipMIDI is not appearing in MIDI Studio.
We are aware of a driver conflict where one or more of the drivers in the Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers folder can potentially cause the ipMIDI icon to disappear.
Please use the following steps to identify the conflicting driver:
-
Make a backup of the drivers: go to Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers, copy the folder and paste it onto the desktop, then delete all the drivers from the original folder.
-
Log out, then log back in.
-
Run the ipMIDI 1.7 installer. ipMIDI should now appear in MIDI Studio.
-
Log out, then log back in.
-
Add another driver from the copied folder to the original MIDI Drivers folder.
-
Log out, then log back in.
-
Continue to add each driver one by one, checking the MIDI Studio after each login.
Once you have identified the driver(s) causing the conflict, remove them from the MIDI Drivers folder for the time being.
Drivers that have been known to cause issues so far include:
-
DigidesignMbox2MIDI.plugin
-
DigiDioMidiDriver.plug-in
If you wish to delete ipMIDI completely, follow the steps from the developer:
