This applies to SSL Nucleus, Matrix + Sigma on both Mac and Windows OS.
The following assumes that the SSL Remote/Browser software is installed and running, and that you are using DAW Layer 1 of the SSL control surface.
Ensure the Nuendo default profile, which is based on the MCU protocol, is selected. If it is not yet selected you will need to select it and then restart the controller.
In Reaper you should create two Control Surfaces, a "Mackie Control Universal" and a "Mackie Control Extended".
The Mackie Control Universal should be on Ethernet MIDI 1 (for input + output), and the Mackie Control Extended should be on Ethernet MIDI 2 (for input + output).
Note that this is for Layer 1 of the SSL controller. To use Layer 2 (DAW 2) use ipMIDI channels 3 and 4, and for Layer 3 use ipMIDI channels 5 and 6.
In Reaper, you MUST edit the Mackie Control Extended to give it an offset of 8. Otherwise strips 9-16 of the controller will be a mirror of Reaper channels 1-8.
Reaper faders control Sigma channel levels only.
The Reaper implementation of the MCU protocol which is emulated by Nucleus and Matrix offers the following features:
- Transport (Play, Stop, Record, Jog, Shuttle)
- The Rewind and Fast Forward buttons are used to navigate through Markers
- CYCLE (called Toggle Repeat in Reaper)
- Zoom (with MODE button lit)
