Some users have reported that after a period of time using the Matrix (Console Software 1.0/11), any soft keys that have been programmed to send QWERTY commands via USB will not function. At present the only cure is to repower the Matrix. The soft keys which have been programmed to send MCU commands remain unaffected.
As a workaround, we suggest using the MCU commands F1 - F8 to send any commands that are normally sent via USB. This does mean, however, that any DAW function that is currently activated by pressing F1-F8 will become unavailable.
Example of reassigning a soft key to send an MCU command instead of a USB command in Logic.
It is possible to control the various functions of Logic by using either a QWERTY keystroke or a MIDI message. In the Key Commands window, once a function has been selected from the list, there is the option to 'Learn new assignment' at the bottom right of the window. Logic will then listen for an incoming MIDI message, which it will then assign to the currently selected function.
On the Matrix, using the Matrix Remote Software, go to the DAW tab and unassign the existing USB function to the soft key. Assign it the MCU command 'F1'. Now when you press the soft key, a MIDI message will be sent instead of a QWERTY command. After highlighting the Logic function you wish to control in the key commands window, press 'learn new assignment' , then press the Matrix soft key.
