Most 25-pin sub-D audio connectors on the back of the Matrix can carry eight channels of audio. They are wired according to the TASCAM DB25 specification. This is a standard wiring protocol, and eight-way looms wired according to that specification are available from most audio retailers.
Matrix features the following 8-way connectors:
LINE IN 1-8 and 9-16
DAW RETURN 1-8 and 9-16
CHANNEL OUT 1-8 and 9-16
DEVICE SEND 1-8 and 9-16
DEVICE RETURN 1-8 and 9-16
FX RETURN 1-4.
Some of the connectors carry less than eight signals. In these cases the lowest numbered cables in standard eight-way looms can be used, or custom looms can be made (also see the attached document: pin-out connection table).
Matrix features the following 6-way and 4-way connectors:
REC, MIX, CUE INS SEND (6 way connector carrying three stereo signals)
REC, MIX, CUE INS RTN (6 way connector carrying three stereo signals)
REC, MIX, FOLLOW MON OUT (6 way connector carrying three stereo signals)
CUE ST, FX OUT 1-4 (6-way connector carrying three stereo signals).
MON L/R, ARTIST OUT (6-way connector carrying the main monitors left and right, mini monitors left and right and artist monitor signals).
EXT 1,2 (L,R) (4-way connector).
